Pamela was born in Los Angeles and lived there until 1970 when she moved to the Monterey Peninsula. The experience of having her portrait painted at age 5 captured her imagination and awoke in her a longing to create with the magic of paint. Since that early age, she has expressed herself through her art. A passion for nature was fostered by summers spent at the family cabin in the mountains of Southern California.

Takigawa studied painting and art history at Pasadena City College and Monterey Peninsula College. She studied fine art printmaking at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Painting and printmaking each provide distinct and unique opportunities for Takigawa to render her feelings artistically. In her paintings, the viewer senses a conversation between the subject and the paint-loaded brush. Fine art printmaking is a collaboration between an artist and an etching press. Pamela’s monotypes are one of a kind. They are created by painting on a flat, unaltered plate. Then the image is transferred to the paper using the pressure provided by a press. She savors the moment each time she lifts the paper off the inked plate revealing the print.
